Globular Transfer Mode

            This transfer mode happens when a molten droplet is formed on the end of the electrode then drops off due to gravity or from short circuiting.  This droplet has to be at a larger diameter than the electrodes diameter to be considered globular transfer.

Possible Problems

            The short circuiting of the drop to the weld/base material is caused by a low voltage making the arc length to short.  This will cause a lot of spatter which is undesirable.   To fix this problem you turn up the voltage.  But make sure that you do not go to high on the voltage because this will cause you to get incomplete fusion and penetration; also you may get excessive weld reinforcement.  These defects are caused due to the droplet cooling too much before reaching the joint, which can be a limiting factor on the different weld positions that you can use with this process
